Week 4 - Jesse

I went to the Hollywood Cemetery for a movie night and when leaving this tomb that was lit caught my eye. I liked that because the door was green the white/yellow-ish lights had a greenish glow in certain areas. I thought about how this image could easily be a set created on stage. For the lights, 2 birdies would be needed and placed behind the columns and the rest of the stage would be completely dark. The birdies would probably be set at 60-70 instead of full so that they're not too bright. This could be the beginning of a scene and in the next cue if someone opened and stood in front of the door, a front light leko could be used to light the actor if need be. As I write this I also realize that birdies were probably used to light this tomb. I wish I was able to get more detail in the surrounding but I also like the dark and eeriness of the image and intensity of light.

  1. ooooh definitely a mood being created here! First of all the setting of a cemetery at night already has a weight that comes with it, but then to see this tomb uplit in a dramatic, intense and almost creepy way definitely tells a story! It creates a harsh silhouette of the impressive columns and highlights the size (i.e. wealth) of the lavish tomb. The green would make me roll over in my grave, but hey. The set "tomb" designer and the lighting designer needed to collaborate a bit more. ;)

  2. I love the mood created here with the green-ish lights.
It actually reminds me a bit of halloween, like someone's doing some witchcraft or summoning there. Would totally not go in there, haha.
