Week 4 - Isabelle
Another day and another walk in Glendale. This time I crossed this little side street and stopped immediately. Usually I don't like the side streets in Los Angeles...they all kind of seem so dark and creepy and you don't really want to stop, but the lights in that side street created such a nice looking, european as well as chinese charme that I love (which ich weird because these two cultures are completely different...). They of course light up the street but because it's not just a street lamp which is always just lighting up one circle around itself, it seems invitingly and appealing. You can see how much the type of light that is used is can influence the atmosphere that is created. Even when they hanged up diagonally, they kind of direct you into the street. The lamps made this street looking bright and shining although it's just one of hundreds of side streets in Los Angeles.
Gorgeous! I was in Barcelona during a festival in which EVERY side street was decorated with some type of lighting lantern and it was just beautiful. The type of fixture definitely matters! These warm, festive string lights are not only happy, warm and inviting, they're beautiful! Giving us almost a starry, sparkly quality down what would normally be a dark alleyway. Nice commentary!
ReplyDeleteI love when evening steal blue match with orange warm light! Such a beautiful miracle only during the sun is setting.
