Week 2- Guadalupe Reyes
During work I obviously need to use the restroom and the ones closest to where I usually am is in a small looking house. There's is like zero light in those restrooms and you always need to take your light or a flashlight to see inside there. This is the light we use to direct traffic. It always comes with me to the restroom, and it always makes me feel some type of way both scared and safe. The fact that it makes me feel safe is because I have some source of light lighting the restroom stall instead of having nothing and being pitch black. On the other hand it makes me feel scared because it's dark as it is already and the light being red makes it even scarier, when I see red I think of danger. This only shows me that color is so important, if it was just a normal light no color I would not feel scared at all. When I use the restroom I always hurry up to get out of there because those two emotions mixed together is weird to me.
It's nice to see/read how different lighting can affect a person's state of mind...for you, relaxation means dimmer light in a more natural setting...we need darkness to recharge, rest and come back the next day. Shadow and the absence of light on stage is just as important to composition and story-telling as light!
ReplyDeleteIt's incredible how one little light in a dark room can get your attention.
