WEEK 2 - JESSE CHACON
I took this photo when I was on the train heading to downtown from my home in Montclair. It was late in the evening and the sky was a warm yellow-orange and was casting shadows that I found very interesting. The cylinders on the left have light wrapping around them and are casting long shadows all the way to the right of the picture. The man is caught between shadows and his back is completely lit. The light wraps around the man as well. The shadow of the leaves on the big cylinder by the man is very interesting as well. On stage this could be recreated with side lights and a gobo.
Whoa, what an interesting photo! Great commentary on noting the light wrapping around the cylinders and highlighting the (blind?) man (so deep and metaphorical! What does it mean? He can't see the light and is walking into the dark etc etc...) but great illustration of light and shadow and SOURCE. The source of light in this photo is the setting sun, and not only is that represented with a low angled side light sun, but we can also tell by the warmer, almost pink coloration of the light itself. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love that the sun can light up everthing in such a gleaming way. I think those cylinders wouldn't look that nice on a cloudy day.
