WEEK 4 - Misa

One day after school, it caught my eyes. It is library at Cal State LA but the building looked so different in the evening. The lighting inside is spilling through the windows and creating a nice contrast with the sky. I just realize by looking at this picture for a long time, our library is an interesting architecture. The combination of the architecture and the lighting can make one thing looks like a different object. Plus, the evening time has a magical power to make most of the things look atmospheric. Those threes in the picture is also lit by the lighting from library and it looks mysterious.

    Really nice image and spot-on commentary Misa! Love what evening light does to the surroundings, both man-made structures and natural ones! Love the warm light highlighting the building's architecture, contrasting with the cool, clear sky and falling night. Most architectural firms will take pictures of their buildings in evening light, rather than night time because of this delicate balance of color temperatures! Really makes their artwork stand out! Nice!

    Wow, I love that picture! I never was aware of the library at campus looks so beautiful, when it's enlightened. It's almost like a totally different building. The warm light let it appear much more tempting than it looks due daytime.

Week 2- Guadalupe Reyes

During work I obviously need to use the restroom and the ones closest to where I usually am is in a small looking house. There's is like zero light in those restrooms and you always need to take your light or a flashlight to see inside there. This is the light we use to direct traffic. It always comes with me to the restroom, and it always makes me feel some type of way both scared and safe. The fact that it makes me feel safe is because I have some source of light lighting the restroom stall instead of having nothing and being pitch black. On the other hand it makes me feel scared because it's dark as it is already and the light being red makes it even scarier, when I see red I think of danger. This only shows me that color is so important, if it was just a normal light no color I would not feel scared at all. When I use the restroom I always hurry up to get out of there because those two emotions mixed together is weird to me.

Week 8 - Isabelle

 Last week in downtown. The sky looked dangerous and the city was surrounded by a muddy, gloomy atmosphere. There were clouds and the sun was on its way to set. It looked different than usual. You could not see the sun but the clouds were colored in orange and brown. But not that beautiful orange at a sunset...a dark, muddy orange. You could not see the sun because the sunbeams did not get through the  thick clouds and the dust. You just saw a harsh light of sunbeams where the smoke has not reached the sky. Somehow it looked dangerous. I heard a firetruck that was driving two blocks further which supported the atmosphere that something was not right. I felt restricted and small and was not sure what to think about it. When I came home I found out that the smoke of the big bushfire in Anaheim made all this dust. It is incredible how air particle can change the way lighting looks like. I am sure it would have been a beautiful romantic light without the dust. Later...

Week 8 Jose

I took this picture the other day when I went to Disneyland for the first time. It was a special day for me and seeing the entire park decorated in a spooky fashion was really rad. I took this picture as I was leaving because I didn’t notice it when I first entered the park. It was daytime so it wasn’t all lit up and I was so excited I really wasn’t paying any attention to detail. We walked out at the end of the night exhausted and saw this decoration, we stared at it for maybe 10 minutes. I am so amazed by all the different colors they manage to blend together and put in. The moon especially looks beautiful and I love how the purple from the column things bleeds over to the moon. The way they made the silhouettes was perfect and the pumpkins look awesome. Seeing this beautiful sight at the end of a long day was wonderful especially when I had overlooked it in the beginning because it didn’t have lights on.
